Can't connect gateway to internet

Can't connect an IOTile Gateway to the internet via WiFi?  

First check:

  1. Is your Modem/Router working and there are no general internet connectivity problems in your
  2. Did you pick the correct Wi-Fi name from the drop “Network name” drop down list?
  3. Did you type in your password correctly?

Common mistakes are:

  • Capitalized incorrect letter
  • Caps lock may be turned on
  • Missed a letter or number 
  • Selected incorrect Wi-Fi network name from drop down
  • Password entered must be a minimum of [] characters long or maximum of {} characters long?

General Troubleshooting

If you've checked off all of the steps above and the password is still incorrect, try one of the steps below and then try again. If you still doesn't work, move to the next step. 

Step 1. Reboot your IOTile Gateway

  1. Disconnect the power cable from the IOTile Gateway
  2. Reconnect power cable back into the IOTile Gateway

Step 2. Reboot Router

  1. Power off/on the router (Note: most routers just require that you unplug the power source and then plug it back in to reboot)

Step 3. Force close the IOTile Companion mobile app

  1. From an IOS device
    1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You’ll see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
    3. Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.
  2. From an Android device
    1. Launch the Recent Applications menu to see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. The Recent Apps button should be accessible at nearly any time along the bottom of the screen along with the other buttons on the virtual task bar.

Step 4. Try to set up again
